An Interactive Exploration of the Evolution of Belly Dance

Starbelly School of Dance is proud to announce Raks of Ages, a FREE event that offers a fun and engaging opportunity to immerse yourselves in Arabic culture and dance. Held at JUMP in downtown Boise on June 3rd, 2023, this all-ages dance event suits everyone, regardless of their dance level or experience.
You'll have a chance to learn classic and modern folk dances from the Middle East in four 30-minute workshops. Our knowledgeable and experienced teachers will share the history and cultural significance of each dance and teach you the movements themselves. You might even join the Starbelly dancers on stage during the evening show (we want you to)!

- 1:00 pm Belly Dance from the Movies
- 1:30 pm Folkloric Belly Dance: SAIDI
- 2:30 pm Belly Dance in the 70s and 80s
- 3:00pm Modern Belly Dance: SHAABI

Don't miss this unique opportunity to celebrate culture and community with us. The workshops are from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm, and the show is from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Thanks to the support of the Boise City Department of Arts and History, Starbelly Dancers, Starbelly School of Dance, JUMP Boise, Saeed Al-Azzawi, Jeff Cates and the Treasure Valley community, we can offer FREE workshops and a final showcase to the public.
